Diana Rae (Chamberlain) Bush-Halverson, 64, of Delmont, formerly of Lake City, Minn., passed away in her home Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. During the end of Diana's battle, she was cared for in her home by her devoted sisters, Donna and Nancy. Diana's favorite saying and the words she lived by during her cancer was "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have." She had a deep faith, and throughout her illness, she always remained positive. Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the loving and compassionate care from her doctors at Hillman Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic, and her hospice nurse, Terri Simco. She was born June 2, 1954, in Caribou, Maine, and was the daughter of the late Donald and Rosalie (Johnson) Chamberlain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James B. "Shrub" Bush. She is survived by her second husband of 16 years, Michael H. Halverson, of Lake City, Minn.; a daughter, Debra Stillwagon (Wesley), of Greensburg; and son, Jason Bush (Monica), of Murrysville. Her most precious treasures were her five grandchildren, Chad, Hannah and Sophia Stillwagon, and Emerson and Jameson Bush. She is also survived by her nine siblings, including her twin sister, Donna Chamberlain, of Presque Isle, Maine; brothers, Dana Chamberlain, of Topsham, Maine, Mark Chamberlain (Felicia), of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Randy Chamberlain (Sandra), of Washburn, Maine, Alan Chamberlain (Nancy), of Hollis, Maine; and sisters, Nancy Pratt, of Gorham, Maine, Carol Taylor, and her late son, Daniel Chamberlain, of Presque Isle, Maine, Karen Mosher, of Presque Isle, Maine, and Linda Quinn (Kevin), of Palmdale, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Diana proudly served and was honorably discharged from the Army. She enjoyed much of her life socializing with family and friends, crafting, playing bingo, going to the casino and playing on her iPad. She also loved her cats, all nine of them, especially Backie and Bear. Diana was a former member of Delmont Ladies Auxiliary. She was a hard worker and enjoyed the people in the community. She worked at the former Fatur's Market of Delmont in the deli and bakery departments and at Eastview Union Cemetery, and afterward, at Fiesta Foods in Lake City, Minn., where she formerly resided.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, Delmont, 724-468-8381, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Ross C. Bash presiding. Interment services will follow at Eastview Union Cemetery in Delmont, with full military honors presided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 33 of Greensburg.
