Betty L. James, 92, of Sarver, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Born June 24, 1928, in Follansbee, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Eugene Beck and Laura Geneva Young Beck. She was a graduate of Winfield High School. Betty owned and operated her own beauty shop in Butler. She was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church, where she taught senior and adult Sunday school, assisted with vacation bible school, and was a member of the 60 Plussers Club. She was also a member of the Zion Senior Citizens Club, the Edgewood Women's Extension Club and was a brownie, Girl Scout and cadet leader. Betty loved to travel, garden and make crafts, including ceramics and needlepoint. She loved cooking and baking. She volunteered at Cabot United Methodist Church fish fry events and community meals. Betty was an exceptional mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. Surviving are her children, Ronald Vincent (Robin) James, of Freeport, Sharon James, of Canonsburg, Karen (Donald) James Marlowe, of Sarver, Richard P. James, of Sarver, and Jeffrey A. James, of Cabot; her grandchildren, Ronald C. James, of Connecticut, Scott Davis, of Connecticut, Jeremy S. (Sasha) James, of Ford City, Tasha Leighanne Harkabusic, of Leechburg, and Pierson Marlowe, of Sarver; her great-grandchildren, Nathan S. James, of Ford City, Xavier Barnes, of Ford City, Jewlius Barnes, of Ford City, Logan J. Paden, of Leechburg, Maylee Barnes, of Ford City, and Colton R. Harkabusic, of Leechburg; her sister, Jean Trego, of Savanna, Ga.; and her brothers, Harvey (Midge) Beck, of Finley, Ohio, and Ruben (Mabel) Beck, of Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Richard James, and brothers, Jonathan Beck and Ray Beck. Friends will be received Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the FOX FUNERAL HOME, INC., 410 West Main Street, Saxonburg. Services will be held Friday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Gerber officiating. Interment will follow in Sarverville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Cabot United Methodist Church Food Bank, 707 Winfield Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
