Jeffrey J. Tomay, 44, of McKeesport, passed away tragically in a car accident Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, in North Huntingdon. He was born Aug. 15, 1976, in Charleroi, son of John T. and Marsha Tomay, of Yukon. Jeffrey was a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School, Class of 1994. He then went on to serve in the Army. Jeff trained and became an executive chef at Chesterfield's, Irwin, under Chef Braun. He then went on to work for Rodney's, Irwin, and Cafe Supreme, Irwin. After many years of service as an executive chef, he became a tree cutter with his brother for Vasko's Tree Service, Irwin, as well as working for The Tree Wise Men Tree Service, McKeesport. Jeff loved his job and being able to work alongside his brother. Jeff had an infectious laugh, was always happy and enjoyed life. He enjoyed going fishing and was interested in the Kecksburg UFO incident. He was a fan of the Denver Broncos and John Elway was his hero. In his younger years, he played youth football and would play baseball with his friends for fun in the summer time. He is preceded in death by his biological mother, Marcy J. Boyd; paternal grandfather, John R. Tomay; maternal grandparents, Bernard "Bernie" and Sally Boyd; and his loving companion, Indy. He is survived by his loving parents; one brother, Scott Tomay; and significant other, Wendy Keenan, of McKeesport; three sisters, Jessica Salvatore, of Manassas, Va., Amy Salvatore Wojdyla and husband, Jaison, of Chesapeake, Va., and Monica Stunja, of Lemoyne; paternal grandmother, Dolores J. Tomay, of Rostraver; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Amy Cole. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136 Madison, PA 15663, Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A private service will be held at the funeral home Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, with Fr. Richard Ulam, O.S.B., officiating. A private interment will take place at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, Smithton. In compliance with the CDC covid-19 guidelines, only 20 people will be permitted at one time into the funeral home. Jeff was at one time a neighbor of ours in Mt. Pleasant. He was a good neighbor, Always courteous and willing to be helpful in any way. We were so shocked to hear of his tragic passing. Jeff and I were classmates and felllow BVA class of 94’ grads. We shared many great times in HS... we argued about the ranking of Neil Young’s best hits or which NFL QB’s were better than John Elway... I can still hear Jeff’s infectious laugh!! He was a good guy and friend.
