Mrs. Shippos was my teacher at Swissvale High School and the first and only teacher who recognized my writing skills and held me accountable for it. She wouldn't allow me to slack off telling me You have a talent and a gift, do not waste it!! Thank you and God Bless.

As her cousin, I had known Maxine her entire life. We especially enjoyed family gatherings when we were young. She had faced some challenging health issues in her later life, and I admired her courage. I'll miss her.

My prayers are with all of you to get through this challenging time. I had her for Office Machines at Swissvale High School. We stayed in touch for a few years. I too am an animal lover, cats in purrticular.

Mrs. Shippos was also my teacher at SHS. I respected her so much because she commanded respect and didn't tolerate any BS. She was a special lady that made a difference in the world.
