Betty Witchey Obituary

Betty L. (Archibald) Witchey, 90, of Oakmont, formerly of New Kensington, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, in her residence at Westminster Place in Oakmont. She resided most of her life in New Kensington. Betty was co-owner of Allegheny Floral in Natrona Heights, a member of Grace Community Presbyterian Church and Hillcrest Country Club. Betty was married to R. Gordon Witchey Aug. 2, 1949. She and Gordon enjoyed 65 years together before his passing in 2015. She was the mother of Cynthia Bianco, who preceded her in death in 1999, and Dr. R.G. Witchey Jr. Betty was the daughter of Charles and Mamie (Cunningham) Archibald. She was the youngest of four siblings, Isabelle Prager, Doretta Kurn and Charles Archibald, all of whom preceded her in death. She and her husband, Gordon, both graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1946. Betty is survived by her son, R.G. and daughter-in-law, Sharon Witchey, of Lakewood, N.Y.; and her son-in-law, Camillo Bianco, of Lower Burrell. Betty was grandmother to seven grandchildren, Cam (Leanne) Bianco Jr., of Gilbert, S.C., Erin Bianco, of Johns Island, S.C., Amy Bianco, of Lower Burrell, Jessica (Tim Egenrieder) Witchey, of Quincy, Mass., Kylee (Kristopher) Clements, of Fox Chapel, Andrew Witchey, of Pittsburgh, and Dexter (Nichole) Witchey, of Millcreek, Pa. Betty was great-grandmother to Leo John Bianco, son of Cam and Leanne. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and mother-in-law. Her grandchildren enjoyed sandwiches and special dishes that she made that became their favorites. Betty was a friend to everyone and was known for giving her favorite people big bear hugs. Her smile and sunny demeanor will be missed by those that she encountered on her "walk arounds" at Westminster Place.
There will be no public funeral service. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, INC., Robert P. Karish, Supevisor, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, 724-335-6500. Betty will be buried next to Gordon at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights.
