As an underclassman of Jim's at CWA, I had the privilege of playing soccer and running track alongside him. Jim was an impressive athlete with grace, speed, and agility. But more importantly, Jim had the unquantifiable leadership quality that helps others around him be better by simply being in his presence. It was a gift to have known him, been his teammate, and learn from how he fully embraced everything he did.

My condolences to his family.

I had the privilege of being Jim's teacher and coach a CWA. He was an elegant athlete and still is a state record holder in the high hurdles. He was focused but fun, and mentored a number of younger people at CWA. He holds a special place in my memories and heart.

I had the privilege to be Jim's teacher and coach at CWA. He was an elegant runner and still holder of a state record in the high hurdles. Jim was the best athlete I ever coached over fifty years. He was very focused, but fun, too. Even as a high-schooler he coached and mentored a number of younger people. One of a kind.

My best wishes to Jim's family.

I was heartbroken to learn of Jim's passing. We met in the 7th grade at Charles Wright, when I sat down next to him in German 101. Jim would help me with German verbs for years to come, and become a dear friend in the meantime. I feel privileged to have graduated from CWA with Jim, and then spend our freshman year at UO.

Jim was simply a fantastic human, always acting with integrity and good humor. His family and friends are incredibly blessed to have had Jim in their lives.
