John was a fellow shipmate on USS TUNNY which in my opinion had the greatest crew imaginable. He was one of the top performers. In addition after we left the Navy our relationship became one of friendship and mutual respect. TUNNY reunions were full of comradeship and friendship ( and a bit of BS).

Fare winds shipmate as you cross the bar!

To Teri and family and friends of John P. Parks, STS2(SS),

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans - USSVI, please accept our sincere condolences at John's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find kindness to warm you, sympathy to comfort you, and cherished memories to bring peace to your heart.

We are forever grateful for Little John's service to our country in the United States Submarine service. Little John joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and left as a STS2(SS) in 1971. John was a crewmember on the USS Cabezon (SS-334), USS Tunny (SS-282), and the destroyer USS Braine (DD-630). To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch.

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. 2 Thessalonians 3:16.

Parks, John P., STS2(SS), US Navy, now on Eternal Patrol -- Fair Winds and Following Seas to our departed shipmate. John's record is posted online in the Eternal Patrol file on the USSVI website.
