MACKENZIE, Peter Robert It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Robert MacKenzie on April 17, 2021 at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents Robert (Bob) and Jessie. Peter will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by Carol, his wife of 41 years, his daughter Elana, son in law Andrew, his cherished grandson Tommy, brother in law Ken (Carol), and niece Carrie (Greg, Sydnie, Camryn), extended family and countless friends. Neighbours will miss their cheerful chats with Peter while he worked in the yard. Peter was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 13, 1943. At an early age he and his family moved from Winnipeg to North Vancouver, where he lived happily all of his life. Always up for trying something new Peter had many interests and enjoyed a wide variety of activities. In his early years he was an avid skier and an early member of the Whistler Ski Patrol, where he met many lifelong friends. Peter's interest in aviation led him to obtain his pilot's license in his twenties. He also enjoyed golf and kayaking and was always ready for a round of golf or a paddle in Deep Cove with friends. In recent years Peter's true passion was archery. He took great joy in improving his form and socializing with the friends he met at the North Shore Archers club. Peter was a truck driver for Canada Safeway and would be quick to tell you that he had the best job in the world. Peter loved what he did and he had great fun with his fellow drivers. Once retired, Peter happily enjoyed all of his hobbies and even learned to love gardening with Carol. After receiving his diagnosis Peter did not let cancer get the best of him, he was determined to make the most of each day. Peter truly was a wonderful man with a kind heart, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We would like to thank Peter's doctors; Dr. A. Javan, Dr. M. Peacock, Dr. A. Avanessian and Dr. P. Sugar, as well as the staff of BC Cancer and Lions Gate Hospital Chemotherapy Outpatient Clinic for their kind care and support. Peter loved animals and kept a cookie in his pocket for any dog that walked by the house. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA in Peter's name or charity of your choice. Turn on an Eagles' song and have a glass of wine in Peter's honour.
