TUSCALOOSA - Charlotte June Hassell Covin, age 79, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away March 7, 2018 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Memory Chapel with Damon Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Stella Hassell; brother, Fred Hassell; husband, John D. Covin, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Doreena Covin; and grandson, Dustin D. Covin.
Survivors include her sons, John D. Covin, Jr. (Julie) of Tuscaloosa and Joe T. Covin (Keena) of Tuscaloosa; sister, Loretta Colwell of Niceville, Fla.; brothers, Sam Hassell of Tuscaloosa and Robert Hassell of Grand Junction, Colo.; and grandchildren, Varonica Covin, Courtney Covin, Christopher Covin, James Robert Atchison and Nadine Atchison.
Charlotte was born June 21, 1938 in Tuscaloosa and graduated in 1956 from Tuscaloosa County High School. She attended Montreat College and worked in retail for many years before leaving to raise her two sons. Charlotte was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and grandsons.
