My deepest heartfelt sympathy for the loss of this truly wonderful man. My parents were both staunch Democrats until their deaths. They always supported and campaigned for Mr. Bayh.
During his time in the Senate, and in 1971-72 I was serving in the Vietnam war. I wrote to the Senator and asked for both an absentee ballot and a flag from our great state of Indiana. He happily sent both. Because of the Constitutional Amendment he sponsored, I had the chance to cast my very first election vote.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to help keep Senator Bayh in Office.

To the Bayh family I extend my deepest condolence. After reading about his passing I wanted to let you know you're not alone in the loss of someone special. Keep the memories of him alive and know that as long as you do your love for him will remain afresh and ever apart of you allowing your love for him to never die. (1 Cor 13:8)- Gladys

Birch was a great friend, we worked briefly when he was at Venable. I first met Birch when he was nominated for the U. S. Senate at the Democratic Convention in Indianapolis, June, 1962. I was on the staff of Vance Hartke. Birch will be remembered & revered as one of the most outstanding legislators in the history of the United States Senate. A truly great American.

What a wonderful legacy he leaves. He never failed to stop and have conversation with us no matter where we saw him.

This is Michelle Bayh, the family historian. When I began to finish the research on the Bayh's to the late 1600's, I contact Birch again. I mailed him an entire book of information once complete and he was thrilled, saying he'd share with all soon. He & Kitty helped me with kind words after my husband's death in 2015. He & Kitty helped me with kind words after my husband's death in 2015. To me Birch was simply family, he was kind, funny & gave great advice. We shared a few personal stories & I will miss our talks. To all the family, words alone will offer some comfort, but know I am keeping all of you in my heart & prayers. This past Sunday at church I had Birch's name read at the service so you are all getting extra prayers of support. My only regret is that I had just discovered more family info & did not get to mail it in time. Via fun phone calls I talked to both Birch & Kitty in regards to the research I had done, and to finish the research off, I used Ancestry to help with the missing link, then went back to the late 1600's. Birch was so excited to learn the history was complete. He called me after he had read it & was amazed by all the details. Later I will send the current info I have found to Kitty for the family, but will wait a respectful time. Our mutual ancestor was Christopher Bayh, my great-great-grand father Love & prayers always, Michelle Bayh

I am very sorry about Senator Bayh. He was a fine person, and he did well in his day as a US Senator.
To all of the Bayh family, I extend my condolences. I lost my father two years ago, so I really feel for you. May God bless you and comfort you.
