Barbara Dixon
Ventura, CA
On July 4, 2017 the spark went out in the life of beloved Barbara Dixon, but the imprint of her life will live forever. She put up a valiant fight against Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and CLL Leukemia. She almost won the battle until stricken with CLL Leukemia again in April 2017.
Barbara was born on November 1, 1958 in Sandersville, Georgia and graduated from Washington County High School in Sandersville, GA and the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. She moved to California in 1990 and moved to Ventura in 1997. Barbara made lifelong friends wherever she lived. Barbara was hired in January 1998 by the Ventura County District Attorney's Office and was the Grants Program Administrator for the majority of her career. Barbara was an avid, and very good, golfer and was instrumental in the success of many charitable golf tournaments. She was involved in numerous charitable organizations and served on many Boards including City Impact, Inc., the Bench Warmer Golf Club and her homeowners' association.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Margaret, brother Wilford, twin brother Bob, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Catherine Moss Dixon and sisters, Dot and Pam.
Barbara "Pansie" Dixon would light up the room with her warm, inviting smile and beautiful, kind eyes. Barbara loved the Lord and she lived her life focused on what she could do for others. She gave generously of her time, talents and abilities. Her life impacted generations.
A funeral service was held at St. James C.M.E. Church in Warthen, Georgia on Friday, July 14, 2017. Interment was at the church cemetery.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Serra Cross at Grant Park (above Ventura City Hall), on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions can be made in Barbara's name to City Impact, Inc., PO Box 5678, Oxnard, CA 93031; The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202, or a charity of your choice.

40 years ago, Barbara and I were part of a circle of dear friends in Atlanta GA at the time. Sadly for us, Barbara then pursued a calling that moved her away from Atlanta.
I was heartbroken to see this obituary while searching for friends I had lost touch with.
May Barbara's delightful spirit continue to light up the many hearts she had touched in her lifetime.
