So sorry to hear of the death of Buddy Schorre, my childhood neighborhood friend from days growing up in Cuero, Dewitt County, TX. We had a wonderful group of friends who spent days on bikes, roller skating, playing Monopoly, catching fireflies on Summer evenings, sharing time experimenting with Buddy's chemistry set as he explained them, all watchful eyes of a network of Moms who provided security. Some Summer days, we enjoyed a special treat: Mrs. Val Schorre's (a teacher) home-made ice cream, after working "shifts", turning the crank handle as the ice cream froze. In the small cluster of Post Oak trees in the Schorre yard, Dewey, Sr. (VP of Buchel Bank) built a network of platforms, connected by 2"x 12" board walkways and a rope for swinging. By age 11, Buddy was taking his own pictures and developing them in his own darkroom built for him by his Dad, Dewey, Sr. Many, many hours of wholesome play prepared us for facing the world knowing we were loved, supported by friendship and devrloped the many talents we shared. Even then, Dewey's budding genius was casting it's shadow before us. It is no surprise his gifts developed into a career filled with world changing acchievements--all nurtured in a community neighborhood filled with creative activities in the community of friends.

So sorry to hear that my cousin Buddy Schorre died. I only knew him from when my folks and I visited his mom and dad in Cuero, TX. He was someone I wish I'd have known better.
