God bless Betty and her family. I and Russ were great finds and went to St Joseph school together. I remember that he left for California in a big hurry. HE and I were friends and visited until he passed. Russ would put Joey in our bike basket and take him for a ride. Betty was a great mother with a great family. Steve Vescovi

Love Wins (For Nanny)

You tuck me in safe at Night
You Comb my hair to make it just
Right
You hold me tight and wipe my
Tears
You protect me from my darkest
Fears
When I'm sick, You help me
Stand
You make me Smile when Things
are Bad
Always There through thick and
Thin
Because in the end Love Always
Wins

Thank you Nanny. From the Bottom of My Heart. I Love you Always -Sarah

Bette Dodge will be truly missed on this Earth. She has left her family with a wonderful legacy to carry on for generations. I have SO many fond childhood memories of Mrs. Dodge. I met her daughter Colleen in Kindergarten at Loma Vista Elementary School. She lived on Agnus Drive and I lived one street over on Lynn Drive. Colleen and I became best friends, we were inseparable until high school graduation and we went our separate ways.
Mrs. Dodge kept her yard in pristine condition, the lawn was always mowed, plants and flowers looked beautiful all year round. Her home was clean and organized. She would drive Colleen and I in her 1964 4-door Chevy Impala which was of course, in immaculate condition. I remember sitting in the back seat and admiring her always beautiful manicured nails and her perfect red hair. There were COUNTLESS rides to swimming and dance lessons, to drop us off at the beach on Seaward Avenue, to school; the list of places can go on and on. Mrs. Dodge would always include me to join her and Colleen to go with them to see her son Joe acting in plays at Ventura High School or at Ventura College. My mother, Ann Moser, remembers her and Bette going together to Stretch and Sew classes back in the day on Ashwood Avenue. They were both quite the seamstress. And of course, we wore the clothes our moms sewed for us proudly.
I am thankful to have these cherished memories of Mrs. Dodge. She is unforgettable. I can only imagine when she closed her eyes on October 31, 2017, and opened them in Heaven, the joyous reunion with her husband and two children it must have been, as well has other family members that had passed on that were there to greet her with open arms. I know without a doubt that Mrs. Dodge will be watching over her family members that are still here.
Thank you for wonderful memories Mrs. Dodge.
