Mary Kindsvater Jones

MARY KINDSVATER JONES passed away on December 23, 2017, six days shy of her ninetieth birthday. She was born in Lawrence, Kansas to Emil F. and Lucille Kindsvater. She was a graduate of College High School, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture in 1950. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and was an active member of the organization in support of college students throughout her lifetime. She married Don Jones in 1949 and accompanied him on professorships to Georgia Tech and the University of Kansas (Go Jayhawks!). In 1965, the young family settled in Oxnard, in a home that she would remain in for the rest of her life. She served as a bookkeeper in property management from 1970 - 1994. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oxnard. She was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and will continue to cheer from the skybox. In retirement, she and Don traveled to Elderhostel classes and traditional jazz festivals throughout the US.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Don B. Jones for 65 years, loving mother of Jeffrey Jones (wife Kim) and Thomas Jones (wife Ilene), beloved sister of the late Kathryn Carleton, cherished grandmother of Joshua, Noah, Andrea, and Brian Jones, and great grandmother of Violet Jones. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to thank the caregivers of Assisted Home Health and Hospice, and also dear friends Jean Gallaher, Carol Wohlgemuth, and Roger and Penny Krevenas for their compassion, care and companionship in Mary?s last years. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 22, 12:00pm, at First Presbyterian Church, 850 Ivywood Dr., Oxnard, California. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary's memory to a charity of your choice.
