Dear Lou,

I am deeply saddened by Jim's passing, he will be truly missed by all of us in the mental health community. He was a tireless worker and advocate, one we will never forget.
Please accept my condolences and love to you and family in this difficult time.

During this hard time, may you find strength in the love of family and the warm embrace of friends. Our Deepest sympathy!

The Matthews are in our prayers. Jim was the greatest neighbor ever. A smile on his face always. I will never forget him standing across the street arms crossed chuckling while observing the antics of my young family. Good times and bad the Matthews stood with us. We will never forget you. Lou and Bart God bless you in this time of grief.

It was a privilege to know Jim and Lou for over 35 years, and I was so sorry to read of the passing of this fine man. He was always pleasant and a real gentleman. I admired his work alongside Lou in helping the mentally ill of Ventura County. They were married over 60 years.
