Mary Therese Navarro-Aldana
Oxnard - Mary Therese Navarro-Aldana lived 66 wonderful years and went to heaven on December 29th, 2020. She was born in Oxnard, California on October 18th, 1954 to her loving parents Panfilo and Mary Navarro. She will always be loved by her sister Christina Portillo and five brothers, Phillip, Danny, Joey, David and Alex Navarro. She was blessed with four boys, Ted, Matt, Loring and Mike Navarro. She spent twenty-seven years of her life with her beloved husband, Gerardo R. Aldana and added two daughters, Perla and Ana Aldana, to her family. She had nineteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mary was blessed with a strong education beginning at Our Lady of Guadalupe, continuing at Santa Clara High School and finally attending UC Santa Barbara. While raising her three oldest children, she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Mary used both her education and values she learned from her parents and her love for people to help others. She spent over four decades dedicated as a civil-servant with the State of California, providing essential employment and training services to rural communities. Many of the recipients of her commitment were migrant seasonal farm workers, veterans, people with disabilities and youth. She partnered with local workforce investment areas to ensure equitable services were accessible to job seekers.
Mary was a very passionate and talented musician. She grew up playing music in the church with her family and was in various bands throughout her life including Satin Soul, Trio Ensueño and Groove Line. Her favorite instrument was the bass and she was also known to play other instruments including the guitar, drums and percussion. Her true love was taking center stage, with a micro-phone and sharing her beautiful voice with family, friends and others. Now that she is in Heaven, God has another voice to add to the Choir of Angels.
