To our dear friend Petra,
How do we reconcile ourselves to the heartbreaking reality that our beloved Petra is no longer physically with us? For months now, we have tried to prepare ourselves for this inevitability, but it was Petra herself, with her good humor, with her courage and absolute lack of self-pity, who made us believe that we still have more time, that the void we have in our hearts today might be put off at least a little while longer.
Today, I speak not only for myself, but for my wife Shelli and Son Michael, who always considered Petra as bonus Grandmother. If you grew up around Eric and Alex theirs a good chance youve met my son Michael over the years. They are and continue to be brothers and sister to each other.
Petra was an extraordinary, truly wonderful human being. She loved her kids AC and Vic and all her extending family members and friends. She adored, and was completely in love with her husband Augie, in whom she found her spiritual and intellectual counterpart. And she was devoted to her friends with equal affection and sincerity that made us fully reciprocate this emotion. There was nothing in her power she would not do for any of us, and we knew it, without Petra ever having to put those into words.
There is so much more to share and say, and we will have occasion to share our memories in the days weeks and years to come.
But now, we must continue to speak to her, if only in our thoughts, so that she will know that we remember her and all the happiness and beauty that she brought to our lives, and that she is not alone.
It has been written: My God, My God, may these things never end: the sand and the sea, the rush of water. Lighting in heaven, the prayer of man.
Petra would have identified with these words, with the sense of infinity in the elements of nature that surrounded her. Let us, in turn, add our promise that our memories of Petra and our love for her will similarly never end.

Dear Augie and family, I am saddened to hear about the passing of our loving Petra. I wanted to say thank you for sharing her as beautifully as you all did for many years! Since I was a very young girl growing up in Santa Paula and attending the 12th Street church where I believe most had the pleasure of her presence....she always..........gave so much of herself as a young woman who had her husband and children, yet she never turned away from giving of her time to the Lords work and all members of the church, weather young or old, she just gave and gave of herself! She was and will always continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her! I myself loved her for who she was to me as I was growing! I will forever love her and remember her in the up most highest admiration! I am so sorry I was unable to attend her services as we were out of town at the time. But please know that you are all thought of and our prayers go out to all of you including Lil Augie and Vicky! Such wonderful kids you have both raised! May the Lord always hold you in his loving hands and our prayers and thoughts are with you! God Bless you! Love, Corina DelCampo (Aguilar)
