Antonio L. Ramirez
Oxnard, CA
Antonio loved mariachi music and just like the lively rhythms of his beloved music he lived his life the same way. Antonio L. Ramirez, with his witty jokes and beautiful tenor voice graced our family with warmth and wisdom for 87 years. On January 30, 2018 our loving father passed on to be with our Lord in Heaven.
He was one of nine children born to Cesario and Zenida Ramirez in Santa Paula, California on August 3, 1930. He was raised in Tototlan, Jalisco where he lived until he met and married our mother Juanita Ramirez. They both fell in love, married and came to the United States in 1953 with a baby in their arms and another on the way.
He was employed at Oxnard Frozen Foods and Dean Foods for over 40 years. He was hard-working, and known to hold down two or three jobs at a time to provide for his growing family.
Our father was a devout Catholic all his life and a member of Saint Anthony's parish for over 53 years. They received a Papel Blessing on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
His hobbies were gardening, meticulously picking his chilies for his famous chile verde, playing guitar and singing at family gatherings with his youngest daughter. He had such a joyful spirit and it spread to everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by our loving mother Juanita Ramirez. They were married over 63 years before she passed in June 2014.
He is survived by his children: Estella (Frank) Zaragoza, Mary (Luis) Alonzo, Tony (Susie) Ramirez, Raul (Sara) Ramirez, John (Suzanne) Ramirez, Irene (Herman) Cortez, Gloria (Rudy) Hernandez. 19 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchild.
Until the very end he fought a great fight and left us peacefully in his sleep to join our mother in heaven. Until we meet again, Rest in Peace our beloved father.
