Thomas Frederick Wolf
Oxnard, CA
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Thomas Frederick Wolf at the age of 79 on the 13th of December, 2017. Tom is missed greatly by his loving wife, Janet Wolf, as well as; their children Deborah Wolf Nelson, Tammy Wolf Slack (husband John), Tom Wolf (wife Kathy), Clay Wolf (wife Marianne) and Christina Wolf; his 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his brother William Wolf (wife Kathy) and children; his sister Nancy Wolf Loraditch and children.
Tom had a multitude of experiences in his life as the son of a Navy Lieutenant Commander, traveling around the world until landing in Oxnard in 1950. He soon fell madly in love and married Janet Haake on December 31, 1960. He earned a Master's Degree in Environmental Science. Early in Tom's career, he began performing environmental impact statements in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. He later went on to teach at a Juvenile Detention Center before becoming a professor at Ventura Community College, teaching Marine Biology (which fit his love of the ocean and sailing excursions on his boat). Tom was active in local politics and development of Neighborhood Councils. His community service included the Oxnard Historical Society, and Parks and Recreation. He received an accommodation from the city of Oxnard for his work on the Oxnard Advisory Committee. Tom then found his perfect calling in the Pine Mountain Inn in 1977, passionately assimilating into the mountain environment, running a restaurant business. Tom's involvement in community, family and business has left an impact on many and he will be missed but not forgotten.
Tom's viewing will be from 4-8 PM at Santa Clara Cemetary in Oxnard on December 28 with Rosary Prayers at 6:30, followed by Tom's funeral at 10 AM December 29 at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. A commemoration this coming Spring will be held in memory of him at Pine Mountain Inn to celebrate his life.

Tom was a great host. I'll remember him and his big dog, Wolf, I think was his name, and the dollar bills pinned all over the ceiling with names on them. He was fond of the one signed by Flip Wilson. Many, many years of memories at Pine Mountain. RIP my friend.

Tom and I come from similar back grounds. We were both sons of Naval Officers and navy dependents most of our young lives. Although we didn't hang out together we knew each other and had some of the same friends. As I recall he was in the California Cadet Corps and a member of the rifle team. My regards to the family and may God bless Tom for his wonderful life. Fellow Class of 1957 member, Oxnard Union High.

I met Tom like a lot of us did on our travels on 33 at the Pine Mountain Inn. I felt welcome at the Inn from the first time I had stopped there, circa 1981. Tom's hospitality was great and he will be missed by so very many.

Very sorry to hear of Toms passing. I got to know him as the brother of my classmate Bill Wolf. He had the Pine Mountain Inn where I got to see him on my visits there.
