I met Rose and Pat in the mid 70's when I was stationed at Pt. Mugu and they were the solid center of a group I affectionately called "the beach people". I was amazed by their warmth, generosity, love of people, and pure joy of life. As a small token of my appreciation, I brought them sheepskin rugs from my deployments to New Zealand (I hope they enjoyed those for many years) and just as I was leaving the Navy and Oxnard in 1976 for grad school in the mid west, Pat insisted on buying my 1966 Volvo 122s "for the girls". I hope that old car lasted and didn't land me on the list of undesirables! Clearly Rose and Pat together made a lasting impression on me because today, after more than 40 years "out of touch" and quite out of the blue, I suddenly found myself wondering how they and the family were doing, if they were still on the beach, and what life had brought them. Call it a "disturbance in the force", but whatever prompted me I turned to the web today and found that I had waited too long to make contact. I was privileged to have met them and to have shared a very small part of their lives. Very sorry I was unable to say farewell in person. Best wishes and condolences to the whole family.

Somehow Rose managed to do it. Taking us all under her wing with her heart and soul and enhanced our lives by giving of herself for all these years and still continues. Rose made our lives richer and fuller, filled with laughter, soul food, love, rainbows of emotions and friendship. What a ride you had and we are thankful that you shared it with us. We will do our best to follow in your footsteps and try to carry on the tradition, party on.
We are grateful and will miss you so much.
