When I think of Peter I smile. He walked to the beat of his own drum, an admirable quality which made him memorable. He was born with a wicked sense of humour. Comfortable and safe to be with.

He was a gentleman in both senses; He was gentle and he was chivalrous.

You could have an intelligent conversation with him, but had to be prepared for the depth of knowledge and be completely cut down because he knew it all! Although he was also a bit humble.

Most importantly he was loving, compassionate, generous, kind and ....(the adjectives are endless).

We all grew up together and generally he would get us into trouble.

Words can never express what we feel.

My sincerest condolences to Aunty Mary, Graham, Diane, Tony and their families.

Until we meet again Peter, go in peace, Rest in Peace.

To my dear cousin Peter,
You were always the light of the party and such a great conservationist.
Always had a good spin on any debate and that is what we love about you, always challenging - always asking.....
I remember you visiting twice, firstly when I had the Pub, you were the light of the party and then partied on.....crept in early hours and slept on my couch. All my locals loved you.
Secondly, you arrived when I moved to Nagambie, I had to go to work, "dont worry" you said "I love just going to the local cafe or pub and chatting to the locals, that is how you find out the history and interesting points of any location".
So right you were, it poured with rain though, you did not have the nous to look in the wardrobe for a rain jacket so walked into town, all of 10 mins, got drenched in the pouring rain to chat with the locals.
This is who Peter is....he is just such a free spirit and I think that is what we all love about Peter.
May he now be at rest, my sincere sympathies to Aunty Mary, Graham, Dianne, Tony and families and Sally and family.
I know I will miss him and he will be sadly missed at future family gatherings.
Love you heaps cozzie Pete,
Adrienne, Lorraine, Taylor and Harrison

Once you met Peter, you never forgot him ... the Bernhard family connection with the Peter started in 1991, when I met him at an IAEA (International Agricultural Exchange Assn) past trainee gathering in Rotorua.
We knew Peter for his positive outlook on life, his humour, wit, banter and intellect and his ability to engage in any topic of conversation with people he knew or had only just met.
RIP Peter you will be missed.

Saddly I am unable to attend the funeral on Monday, but there will be other members of the Bernhard family there.
Our deepest condolences to Mary and families xox

Peter was a special man. He was a personable character, always willing to be positively engaged in whatever task he was asked to do.

He had an impish sense of humour and was popular with everyone he came in contact with.I recall his ability to get cracking and if required
would go that extra mile to ensure the work was completed on time

It was a pleasure working with Peter either watching him riding the farm bike on one wheel or crutching our sheep or tractor work he was always energetic.

Peter is sadly missed,
Ian
