After having met Diane in Egypt I had the pleasure and privilege to work with her in Haiti, where I got to know her wonderful husband and daughter. Diane was a great and sensitive lady and a very accomplished specialist in governance and democracy. I wish there were more like you, Diane!

I met Diane for the first time at the University of Michigan, but later I got to know her better when she was in the PH.D. Program at Binghamton University. I already knew Jerry who was a TEFLer in Fes, where I also worked.

In 1973, I got seriously ill in Sefrou. Diane and Jerry put me up in their house in the Ouidayas for at least a couple of weeks while I recuperated.

My sincerest condolences to Jerry, Amal, and all of their families

Dear Jerry and Amal,
I was shocked and saddened to see Diane's obituary quite by accident today. My deepest condolences to you and your family. The memories of Diane, you and all of us with Peace Corps/Morocco live on . . .
With sadness, John Salamack

What a wonderful woman!

When Jack and I went to Morocco in the late '60s Diane was there to show us the way, to make our time there (9 years in all) so much more impactful. I remember being introduced to the Rabat Odayia casba at her home. But the great moment was when she hooked up with Jerry, our beloved friend from the earliest days of Peace Corps training.

Our deepest condolences, Jerry. Jack and I cannot imagine what is is like to be suddenly alone. It would be such an honor to have you as a guest in our home in Port Townsend, Washington. Or on S/V Aurora at any of the stops along our 2018 cruise to Alaska.

Diane was my roommate in San Francisco after we graduated from William and Mary. We were great friends and she and her brothers and mother made my life in the strange city so much fun; the greatest of memories. I am so sorry I couldn't find her when she married and lived in D.C. To all her loved ones, I send my deepest condolences.

I have had the good fortune of knowing Diane through Freer and Sackler. Her calm and friendly presence, always wearing a smile, will be greatly missed by many.
I really wanted to come to the memorial to pay my respect, but with a bad cold and uncontrollable cough, I will stay home and remember our wonderful years working together.
My deepest sympathy for your loss, Jerry and Amal.

Dear Jerry, I am so sorry you lost your Diane. She was such a contributor to all of the wonderful things the docent corps was engaged in. I will really miss seeing her at docent events, comparing medical maladies, and sharing her experiences and insight into Islamic art. My condolences on your loss, Gail

I so enjoyed the chance to get to know Diane through her time at the museum, and will very much miss seeing her there. Nancy Micklewright
