I have fond memories of Dr. Moore since supporting the 19th Street Music ministry during the tenure of the late Donald register and Milton Lespere. Her support for the Arts was always noteworthy. I also shared with her at the George Washungton University's Education Dept. where we both held the position of Supervisor for Student Interns. May her family continue to find comfort in the memories they have of her Christian beliefs and values and with her commitment to education and children.

This woman was instrumental in my collegiate and professional life; and pushed me to finish my degree from Howard University. I owe her my life and much gratitude--and I continue to push forward, because I know had it not been for her...there may not be a me.

I visited Howard University last week and as I stood outside the School of Education, telling my children about the wonderful professors of HU, I fondly spoke of Dr. Ettyce Moore. She was not only my professor from 1996-1998, but she was also my "soul saver". Dr. Moore had discernment out of this world and quickly noticed beneath the night club attire that I often wore to class that I was a church girl, trying to run away from my divine calling. It was because of her wisdom, guidance, and spirit, that I eventualky accepted the call and submitted to God's will. I remember her long embrace after I returned after burying my father. I tried to be so tough, but she let me cry in her arms several times. I never had a chance to tell about my continued successes. I planned to tell her that 4 years ago, I became a pastor, and even during the recent dedication service of our new edifice, I mentioned Dr. Moore and how she saved me from myself. Determined to speak to her once again, I Googled her only to find that I am a month late. Words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Moore. I'm also a school principal and think about the crazy stories that she told us. Dr. Moore, I too have crazy stories to share, and I'm proud to say that my style of leadership is patterned after your unique style of educational leadership. The Moore family will remain in my prayers. Dr Moore spoke so fondly of you that I feel like I know you all! Please, be comforted!

Rev. Moore, our prayers are with you at this very difficult time. Ettyce took me home every day from Kelly Miller JHS, and I always thanked her by giving her 'homemade rolls'. My mother, Vivian Neal prepared your inauguration dinner when you and your wife arrived at 19th St.Baptist Ch. Peace be with you and know that Ettyce was loved: she touched the life of all who knew her. We know you loved her dearly and will miss her, but we will miss her too. God has her firmly in HIS hands where she is resting from her labors. Peace be with you until you see your ETTYCE again,

My thoughts on Dr. Ettyce Moore are more like thoughts about my mom (even thought she isn't). She was one of the coolest ladies I met at church who made it her business to make sure everything was ok with me and fix things that weren't ok (if it was within her power). She was very approachable and even though she had so many accomplishments in her life, I didn't know all of that about her when I first met her. I just met a kind lady who seemed to care and always let me know we could talk if I needed to. That is part of what made her special. She has greatness but didn't feel the need to present herself that way. She modeled Christ in her dealings with me (and I'm guessing others) and I will always love her for that. I know she is with Jesus now telling a story or two and having the heavenly hosts laughing. I'll miss her but plan on seeing her again one day.
