I would have been David's German professor at St. Mary's College. Although I did not get to meet David, I missed him and was saddened to learn that he had died.

All my love and sympathy for your loss. It's been a long road and David was quite the fighter through it all. What he accomplished in his short life is beyond belief. The world lost a beautiful person and a brilliant mind. I feel blessed to have known him. I can't close without mentioning Christine. She was a rock through it all and did it alone. Ive never met anyone like her and never will. I feel blessed to call her my friend. God bless David-no more pain. He will live through so many forever.

David,
I've thought long and hard on what to say to you, and I'm sure I'll be thinking deeply for a long time, but for now, all I have is "thank you." However brief you were on the volleyball team, you were still one of us. How can I thank you enough for the smiles you bring and the bonds you've helped strengthen with every laugh and every kind word? With every hand shake and every comforting hug? How can I still thank you? What an amazing act you've done and in all the hearts you've touched; thank you. I'll be keeping in touch in my prayers, so look forward to it. You're the best.

David played basketball at RHS with my son, Mark. I remember how hard it was on David's teammates to hear he was sick and in the hospital. With his bright smile, David was a true inspiration and a positive force in the RHS community. He will be greatly missed.
