Mi estimada Bertha, apenas nos acabamos de enterar de tu despedida y nos dolió como si fuera ayer. Te apreciabamos más de lo que te puedas haber imaginado y te extrañaremos a pesar de los años. Que descanses en paz chiquilla.

Paty-Gordon,
I am so grateful to have had the opprtunity to be intertwined into your life. I am even more grateful to have been blessed with having you in mine. I won't ever take for granted the opprtunity that God gave me to have one last conversation with you in the early days of your illness, where I held back nothing regarding appreciation and gratitude for ALL you've done for and been to us; my regrets and apologies, big and small, which you so graciously and selflessly accepted and forgave; and not in any way the least, the LOVE that my family and I will always have for you--undying, sisterly love that has grown in me for the past 20 years, and will continue to grow. Regardless that our depths of love were different, you were genuine about through each phase and at every level. I spoke to you with the intention of being a consoler, but instead it was you who consoled me with your words and your spirit despite your monstrous affliction. This, too, I let you know--Yes, Paty-Gordon, you are my teacher and mentor, too. I believe you always have been.
Needless to say, you ARE a part of our family. Your dedication and devotion as a teacher/mentor, friend, colleague, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and human being surpass the norm, and I am motivated by such inspiration to pay homage to you and the legacy that you so naturally and unseemingly created, by "paying forward" what you left with us to pass on.
You will be ever present in our hearts.
Love, Peace, & Prayers, always.

I cannot believe that Gordon (Nickname I gave her when i was little) has gone. When I heard that she had passed away, I cried. To me she wasn't just an aunt, she was more like a mother. I remember so many things that we did and the places that we use to go to. One thing that I will always remember is when people would ask her if I was her son, and she would always say yes. I remember her taking me, Ken, and Al to the park, Toys R Us, the movies, and the zoo. There are so many things that we did and places we went to that I will never forget. Gordon, even though you were not my biological mother, I wish you an early Happy Mother's Day and may you Rest In Peace.

When i heard the news my heart broke. I remember the trips to toys r us, parks, movies, musems, anywhere and everywhere. I remember you, Andrew, my brother and I each had nicknames from Thomas the Train Engine. There was never a dull moment with you. Ever. Pati, words cannot truly express how much I am going to miss you. I love you. May you rest in peace.
