Daph rang Colin only last week, letting him know that she wanted to send him a birthday card for the 22nd, but she peaceful passed the day before his birthday, sweet Daph.
Where do I start
It must have been at least 25 years ago, Colin and I where struggling antique dealers, ( lol pretty much junk)bringing up two little boys Christian and Reagan, our Shop was in Kew (Kew Cottage)on the Hwy not far from Moorland.
These two older people really stood out in our shop, dressed so differently to all the locals at the time, both with city voices than actually from the bush, the intrigued us.
They invited us around, to look at their wares. We did go to Wuthering Heights, they explain where it was, the gate having a disc painted yellow and blue spots, we went in we saw all these dogs and a fly screen room which at the time was a scene out of a horror movie, we made excuses to leave..
Not long later we where invited back but this time we left a message at our shop to say where we where.. lol young and stupid we did not realise that the bones we saw where only from the meat that Daph and John feed the dogs and the native birds
We became friends and later we needed place to stay between selling and buying another home, we stayed in the old little church the four of us and our two dogs, Bella and Lappa who are both buried on the property..
We moved out and then our paths had a dramatic change, Daph use to talk about a lot of people she knew in the city, knowing Colin wanted more for our family, she introduced us to John Williams a Sydney auctioneer, we worked for him for a number of years and then we started our own auction business Vickers and Hoad, now it's all history, if it was not for Daph and John, we would have never be where we are today..we are truly greatful for the leg up, we met a number of her old colleagues, Leo Scoffield and Barry Byrne whom she both adored..there is more to tell but as you can see I have written too much, but it's not to much to honour a lady who Colin thought as a second mother, we visited Daph a few weeks ago and said our goodbyes, until we met again, Daph you are so special in so many ways, the boys have never forgotten you and you where our friend and we will miss you, I can hear you calling Arthur, and Arthur calling back, hello Arthur' RIP sweet Daph xoxo

Daphne was a long-time friend and colleague of my husband Les Davidson (dec. 31.12.17). They worked together for many years in the film and TV industry, producing commercials for TV and Cinema. They were a great team, making sure that Daphne as Director/Producer and Les as Editor produced commercials which got the message across in 30 or 60 seconds!
I met Daphne about 40 years ago, often at Leo Burnett Advertising in North Sydney, or at APA Leisuretime Studios in Neutral Bay. Daphne and Les were the first production team to produce a Grace Bros TV commercial on videotape at V.T.C. Studios,"Edit Suite 2" on 13.4.1982.
We visited Daphne and John several times at their Moorland home where they cared for many rescue animals, including donkeys, horses, dogs, cats, birds and various wildlife. We all enjoyed sharing stories about the advertising and TV industry, the difficulties in getting a crew together, re-shooting ads, and making the ad for approval in time for air.
My deepest sympathy and condolences to John and family, wishing them comfort in their many happy memories of Daphne.
