WINDSOR Clyde W. Eckert, 96, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a visitation from 9-10 a.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Mr. Eckert was born in Windsor on December 27, 1917, a son of the late Frank H. and Bertha (McCoy) Eckert. He started working in 1942 when he was 25 years as a First Fireman and retired in 1979 as an Engineer with Penn Central Railroad. Mr. Eckert was a member of the Brotherhood of Engineers, Railroad Retirement Association, and Laurel Fire Company in Windsor. Mr. Eckert leaves his long time companion, Joanne M. Ness of York; two sons, Lester of Charlestown, SC and Terry of Red Lion; a daughter, Doris M. Gemmill of Red Lion; eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha F. (Benson) Eckert; a son, Clyde; a daughter, Connie L. Moffitt; and four brothers, Ervin, Wilbur, Ralph, and Spurgeon.
