Norman S. Overmiller

Norman S. Overmiller, 83, passed away at his residence Sunday, August 20, 2017. He was the loving husband of Joanne E. (Bentzel) Overmiller with whom they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 6, 2016.
Mr. Overmiller was born in York on Tuesday, September 26, 1933, son of the late Carl H. and Mae C. (Trout) Overmiller, Sr.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a Tank Commander.
Norman was employed by the former Cole Steel as a electrostatic sprayer for 39 and a half years, and the West York Area School District as a plant operator from which he retired after 10 years of service.
He was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, York, and the Shiloh American Legion Post 791.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Lori A. Hoskin and her husband, Terry E. of York; and a son, Jeffrey N. Overmiller and his wife, Kimberly G. of Rockville, MD; five grandchildren, Emily J. Hoskin, Benjamin E. Hoskin, Blair A., Blake E., and Parke C. Overmiller; a brother, Reynolds S. Overmiller of Middletown; and a sister, Betty J. Zerbe of York; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Levere D. Overmiller, Carl H. Overmiller, Jr., Kenneth L. Overmiller, and Eugene S. Waltimyer.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Rd., York. Officiating will be the Rev. Ron Oelrich from Faith U.C.C., York. Final resting place will be in Shiloh Union Cemetery, York, with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
At the family's request, memorial contributions may be made to Grane Hospice, 3501 Concord Rd., York, PA 17402 or Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Rd., York, PA 17408.
Services are entrusted to the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh).
