Peter Lazzara
York - Pietro (Peter) Lazzara, 97, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home, with his family, on Easter Sunday April 4, 2021. He was the husband of the late Serafina (Arcuri) Lazzara for 64 years. Peter was born on May 24, 1923 in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, a son of the late Tommaso and Clementina (Fede) Lazzara.
In 1949, Peter emigrated to Hoboken, NJ. He utilized his cabinet making skills and hand crafted custom headboards in Midtown Manhattan. In 1953, he relocated with his family to York, PA and worked at Pennsylvania Furniture Company until 1961. He was employed by Cole Steel - Litton Industries until his retirement. Peter realized his "American Dream" when he owned and operated "Lazzara Furniture Store" in West York, together with his wife. In 1985 he opened the original "Quick 6 Beer & Food" carry out store next to his furniture business.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Sons of Italy. Peter is survived by his children Tina Lazzara Spagnola and her husband Michael Spagnola of York, and Thomas Peter Lazzara also of York; grandchildren Analisa Spagnola (Marquis Thomlinson), Philip Spagnola and his wife Anna (Sweeney) Spagnola, Peter Lazzara, and Nicholas Lazzara; nieces and nephews and extended family in York, New Jersey, Montreal and Sicily. He was preceded in death by his sister Anna (Lazzara) Noto and his brother Giuseppe Lazzara.
Private Funeral Services with a Mass of Christian Burial will held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, and available to be viewed live on the church's
website on Friday, April 9 at 11AM at
