Albert Abberton Death Notices

ABBERTON, Albert (Algie) Abbey, Loughrea, Co. Galway who passed away peacefully at home on the 30th April 2021. Albert's wife Eva, son Gerard, daughter Deirdre, grandchildren and the extended family would like to express the deepest gratitude to all those who sympathised with us and supported us on the heart breaking loss of beloved Algie. We were greatly touched to see neighbours, friends and family lining the road from the church to the graveyard. Thank you to all who stood in the centre of Abbey to bid their final farewell. It was a beautiful and moving tribute of which Albert would have been very proud. We would like to thank everybody who offered their condolences on RIP.ie, sent Mass cards, flowers, letters, messages and phone calls. These heartfelt words have been of great comfort. We are especially grateful to all the relations, friends and neighbours that visited Albert in his final weeks at his home. The visits bought much laughter, light heartedness and joy to both Albert and his family. It brings us the family much comfort to know that Albert enjoyed life and the company of friends and family right to the very end. It leaves us with very fond memories of just how Albert lived his life and we could not have expected more. The comfort of Albert's final few weeks were made possible by the wonderful staff of Portiuncula Hospital and their excellent care over the years. We would especially like to thank Albert's carers, GP's, public health nurses, palliative care team, night nurses and our pharmacy Hayes and Hayes. All of these people provided not just an excellent service, but also kindness and humanity that allowed Albert and his family the gift of being able to appreciate his final weeks and hold fond memories of them. We would like to thank Fr Kieran for his visits to Albert's home, his kind and sensitive help in organising the funeral Mass. We would also like to thank Frances Holohan and Florence Lyons for the beautiful choir. We were grateful at how well the church was presented. We would like to thank the undertakers John and Ethna Touhy for their help as well as the grave diggers for all of the care and attention they put into Albert's final place of rest. We are especially grateful for all of the efforts made by neighbours, friends and family with food, refreshments and all of the organising that just happened so seamlessly, but added so much to Albert's journey. Albert's Months Mind Mass Will take place on Friday the 18th June 2021 at 7 pm in the Church of The Assumption Abbey.
