Derek M. Walker Mt. Pleasant Derek Meade Walker, 35, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at his home. Derek was born June 4, 1977, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Dale and Paula J. Lipko Walker. He was a member of Reunion Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant. Derek attended Mt. Pleasant Area High School. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Steelers and especially the Pirates. He loved spending time fishing and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. One of his proudest moments came in 2000, when he received his GED, and completed his education. Derek was a very kind and loving young man. He will be greatly missed, and his wonderful smile will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Derek is survived by his loving family: his parents, Dale and Paula Lipko Walker; by his brother and sister, Dale Alan Walker Jr. and Marcy, of Mt. Pleasant, and Rachael E. Walker Block and Nate, of Syracuse, N.Y.; and by his maternal grandmother, whom he adored, Eleanor Bechtell Lipko, of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Patricia Lipko Zuzack and Ken, Lori Lipko Benjamin and Robert, Thomas Lipko and Lauren, Deborah Lipko Talleri and Peter, Michael Lipko and Jacqueline, Robert Lipko and Lynne; and numerous cousins. Derek was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Lipko; and by his paternal grandparents, Dean Demander and Annajane Meade Walker. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. Derek's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Reunion Presbyterian Church, Main and Eagle streets, Mt. Pleasant, with his Pastor Paul Rankin officiating.
