The death has occurred of JOE (JOSEPH) STANFORD
Ballybane, Gort, Galway / Clare
STANFORD, Joe (Ballybane, Gort, Co. Galway). Passed away peacefully on Wednesday the 12th of November 2025, at University Hospital Galway, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Pre-deceased by his father Joseph, mother Maryann, sisters Sr. Mary Gemma Stanford, her baby twin sister Margaret, Lena Hughes, Frances Walters, brother Kieran Stanford and by his grandsons Oscar, larlaith and Quin.
Deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Nancy, who cared for him so wonderfully, especially throughout this past year. Sadly missed also by his children Rita, Mary, Linda, Joseph, Gerard, Pamela, Áine and Mark; sons-in-law and daughters-in-law Andy Wakefield, Rob Godden, Danny Regan, Chanella Stanford, Maria Stanford, Ronan Kilkenny and Eibhlin Stanford; his cherished grandchildren John, Charlie, Ryan, Stanley, Michael, Nathalie, Barry, Rachel, Óisín, Brian, Eoin, Donnacha, Amelia, Emily, Jack, Ruben, Ella, Aoibheann, Isibeal, Meabh, Fionn, Aisling, Niamh, Se and Nansi; great-grandson Caelan. Fondly remembered by his brother Bernard (Gort) sister Patricia (Australia), sisters-in-law Margaret, Ann, Carmel, Moira & Noreen, brothers-in-law Neville and Terry, cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.
Joe will lie in repose in Seomra Ciúin, within Gort Town Hall, Church Street, Gort, (H91 E0C8) on Friday evening, November 14th , from 6pm until 7.30pm. Private removal on Saturday November 15th with the Funeral cortege arriving to St. Colman's Church Gort for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Joe will be laid to rest afterwards in Kilmacduagh Cemetery.
The family deeply appreciates your kindness and support at this time. We wish to thank all who cared for Joe during his illness. Finally, a special word of thanks to our wonderful family, neighbours and friends for all they have done to help us in these difficult days.
