Tommie Claffey Death Notices

CLAFFEY, Tommie, Cartron House, Aughrim, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway who passed away peacefully on 10th April 2025. Tommie's wife Mary, daughter Sandra, sons Joe and Paul, son-in-law Neel, daughter-in-law Lucy, granddaughter Isla, brothers John, Bertie and Pat, sisters Mary and Veronica, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends wish to express heartfelt thanks to all who sympathised with us on our sad loss. Thank you to all who visited our home, attended Tommie's funeral and burial, sent Mass cards, messages of condolence, or telephoned. We were deeply moved by the support, kindness and presence of so many, especially those who travelled from across Ireland and England. Special thanks to Fr. Gerry Geraghty and Fr. Christy McCormack for concelebrating Tommie's Funeral Mass, and to Chrissy Reilly for the beautiful music. We are truly grateful to the Cappataggle Community Centre Committee for making the facilities available, and to our kind neighbours who provided food and refreshments with such generosity and care. Sincere thanks to Cappataggle Hurling and Camogie Club for the touching Guards of Honour and heartfelt tributes, and to the Chairman for his thoughtful words at the Mass. Our deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Francis Ward (Portiuncula Hospital), University Hospital Galway, Galway Hospice - especially Dr. Sarah Nestor - and to Niamh Murphy and the team at Murphy's Pharmacy for their exceptional care and compassion. Thank you also to the gravediggers for the care and attention given to Tommie's final resting place. Thanks to Gullane's Hotel for their hospitality, and Rothwell Funeral Directors for their support and guidance. To everyone who lined the roads, offered practical help, and walked with us as we brought Tommie home - your kindness and respect will never be forgotten. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this as a token of our sincere gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions. Tommie's Month's Mind Mass Will be celebrated on Friday, 9th May at 6:00pm in St. Michael's Church, Cappataggle. Loved and remembered always.
