Loving and Remembering Our Gal
Abbie Elizabeth Holland-Cullen
September 5, 1981 to October 6, 2025
From earliest memories, the animal kingdom and Abbie shared a kindred spirit-uniquely intertwined. She understood in a special way - gathering handfuls of snakes, raising guinea pigs and hedgehogs, nurturing post-surgical puppies and kitties and injured birds, a multitude of pets, abandoned baby skunks and fox kits and most significantly, a special knack and connection with horses. This bond and keen perception lasted her lifetime. 4-H and open horse shows graduated to the Quarter Horse Circuit where she and her lovely gray mare, Cotton, became an impressive duo, culminating in high honors. An avid reader, accomplished artist, and equestrian, Abbie went on to graduate from MSU with an Animal Science degree and subsequent DVM degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine where she specialized in equine lameness and reproduction. We, her family and friends, will remember Abbie for her reverence of all creatures great and small, her flowers, her painted furniture, her smile, feisty spirit and wit, her equestrian accomplishments, joy of cooking, decorating skills, her love of travel and quest for knowledge, the beaches of Anna Maria Island and Christmas.
At Abbie's request, her ashes will be scattered on Jim and Abbie's lovely horse farm in Kentucky, in the Gulf Waters surrounding Anna Maria Island and interred in Cadillac's Maple Hill Cemetery as a place to reflect and mark time.
Abbie is survived by her husband, Jim Cullen, her dad and mom, Crit and Adele Holland, her protective and caring brother and friend, Dylan Holland, wife Brittany and nephews, Roald and Townes, and her unconditionally loving sister, Greta Holland who always held a special place in her heart.
A Celebration of Life is planned for November 22, 2025 at the home of her much-loved Aunt Meegan, 946 Rosewood, East Lansing, MI from 1-4. We invite all who knew and loved Abbie to come and share memories and thank-you for joining us.
May her unbridled spirit soar once again.
