Abraham I. Rappaport, Esq., longtime resident of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on January 28th at age 73. He died peacefully in the company of his wife, Stephanie Groh, following a long illness. He is survived by his only son, Dr. Maximilien J. Rappaport, his daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.
Abe overcame a difficult childhood, put himself through school, and earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University. He was a member of the bar in New York, Delaware, and Florida. Before establishing his private practice in South Florida, Abe distinguished himself in the high-stakes arena of class action litigation.
Abe embraced life with gusto following the dictum to eat, drink and be merry. In both his professional and personal life, Abe undertook to defend and support those less fortunate. Abe was an avid reader, especially fond of the Russian novelists, as well as science fiction (Philip K. Dick) and horror (Stephen King), among others. Abe was a strong chess player, a compelling writer and an astute observer of the political scene. His sharp intelligence and witty humor will be sorely missed by family, friends and colleagues alike. His absence will be keenly felt by Teddy, the poodle upon whom he happily spoiled in the last years of his life.
Abe will be laid to rest this Spring alongside his family at Ferncliff Cemetery in New York. A memorial is planned for June 12th, 2026 in the Hudson Valley.
Abe Rappaport, 1952-2026
May his memory be a blessing.
