Agnes A. Friend

Agnes A. Friend (nee Jelinek), age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, February 27, 2026. Born April 6, 1944, in Cleveland, OH, Aggie was the daughter of the late Ernie and Libbie (Hauner) Jelinek. Beloved wife of the late William L. Friend. Loving mother of Steven (Chrissy) Friend and Leslie Friend. Cherished grandmother of Asher, Reagan, Caleb, Isaac, and Elliott. Dear sister of Janet Horwath (the late Larry) and Laura Veverka (Kenny). Dear aunt of many.

Aggie was a graduate of Garfield Heights High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from Fenn College of Cleveland State University. She began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher, later transitioning to a learning disabilities teacher, retiring from the Bedford City School District. She was a lifelong member of Sokol Greater Cleveland, and she enjoyed crocheting and baking Christmas cookies.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at Vodrazka Golubski Deliberato Funeral Care, 6505 Brecksville Rd., Independence, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1-4pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 4pm.

Interment at a later date at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
