In Loving Memory of:
Al-Ansari Moroti Abdullah

Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un
(Surely we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return)

With heavy hearts and submission to the Will of Allah (SWT), we announce the return of our beloved
Al-Ansari Moroti Abdullah to his Creator
on April 12, 2026.

Al-Ansari was the devoted and loving husband of Sala Abdullah.
His legacy continues through his children: LaShon Owens (Earl), Al Mitchell Jr.,
Leon Mitchell, Andrew Abdullah,
and Samuel Robinson II (Dawn).
He now joins his daughter, the late Waconda Mitchell, in eternal rest.
He was the proud grandfather of Dominique, Wynton, Ebone', Miles, Toyesheekia, Dwayne, Tyler, Essence, Wendell Jr., and Artois. His family line also extends to his great-grandchild, Kanari.

His memory will be further cherished by a host of dear friends, extended relatives, and all those whose lives he touched.

Al-Ansari was born on October 17, 1948, the cherished first-born of the late Al Mitchell Sr. and the late Irene Jenkins Mitchell. As the first-born on both sides of the family, he was showered with affection from birth.
Raised in Gary, Indiana, he was nurtured with deep devotion by his Great Aunt, Lucille Stubbs, and his Uncle, (Doc) Andrew Stubbs, whom he loved dearly. He grew up alongside his loving sister, Lucille Mitchell-Milam, and shared ancestral roots with his brothers and sisters in Ohio and Mississippi.
A man of discipline and community spirit, Al-Ansari attended Carver School, Beckman Junior High, and eventually Roosevelt High School. He also spent time honing his strength and skill at the Murphy Boxing School.
Al-Ansari was a dedicated employee of Gibson Yard, who retired after many years of loyal and committed service. Throughout his life, he was also a dedicated member of his Muslim community, finding great purpose and fellowship within his faith.

We ask for the Almighty's blessings upon him and grant his family beautiful patience (Sabr) during this time.
