Alan Warren Andersen
October 24, 1934 - December 28, 2025
Alan Andersen, born to Otto and Edna Andersen in San Francisco was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, after celebrating his 91st birthday just two months earlier.
Alan grew up in San Anselmo and was strolled across the Golden Gate Bridge on opening day by his mother, Edna.
As a young man, Alan spent summers in Cotati with his uncles, sometimes picking fruit in Modesto - hard work that didn't stop him from enjoying life's simple pleasures.
He attended Mt. Tamalpais High School, and later became part of the first graduating class of Sir Francis Drake High School in 1952. He joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country, after which he took over the family business on Polk Street in San Francisco.
He met his sweetheart, Betty, and the two married on January 24, 1960, beginning a partnership filled with love, laughter and adventure.
A proud Native Son of the Golden West (51-year member of Lodge 307 in Fairfax), Alan loved the outdoors and became an avid duck hunter, eventually becoming part-owner of the 500-acre Sunrise Duck Club in the Suisun Marsh - his happy place.
In 1977 he and his family relocated from Marin County to the beautiful countryside in Penryn, CA where he spent 48 memorable years with Betty and his children.
He ran a successful kitchen and bath remodeling business in Sacramento, loved tending to his plentiful gardens, and in later years enjoyed playing bocce ball with friends through his SIRs group. A lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan, Alan never missed a game - and yes, he really was duck hunting to the end!
Alan is survived by his wife, Betty, his four children, Eric, Cindy (John), Tina and Gwen (Gary) and his sister, Carol. He will be deeply missed by all who know him, remembered for his wisdom, humor, stories, and the joy he brought into every room.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
