Alan James Burnett, 82, passed away on January 27, 2026. He was born on July 23, 1943, and raised in Revere, Massachusetts. He was the son of Lorraine (Hoyt) Burnett and James Hamilton Burnett, and brother of the late Linda Burnett. Alan was the former husband of Teresa Burnett and the father of Aleta Scully of Norwell and Audra Stevens of Hanover.
Alan spent the first half of his life in the Greater Boston area and the second half on his beloved Martha's Vineyard, a place that held special meaning for him. He also maintained a strong connection to New Hampshire throughout his life.
A graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1961, Alan served as Vice President of his class. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Suffolk University.
Following his education, Alan honorably served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was also a playwright.
Alan will be remembered for his service to his country, his academic accomplishments, his work as a playwright, and the many connections he made throughout his life.
Private services will take place this summer at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.
