In Loving Memory of Alcurtis Robinson
With deep sadness, we announce that our beloved husband and father Alcurtis Robinson, passed away peacefully onSunday, March 22.
Born on February 8, 1940, in Cliftonville, Mississippi, to Eris and Corean Robinson, Alcurtis grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where the foundation of his character and values took shape. He later spent 34 years living in Omaha, Nebraska, before retiring with his family in Phoenix, Arizona.
Alcurtis was an amazing husband and father, devoted to his family and married to his loving wife, Carolyn Robinson, for nearly 58 years. He was also the youngest sibling to Mildred Boykins, Ann Hampton, Henry Robinson, and Eris Robinson, and a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews. Alcurtis was truly one of a kind—generous, full of life, and dedicated to giving back to others.
A proud graduate of Sumner High School—the first African American high school west of the Mississippi River—Alcurtis continued his education at Harris-Stowe Teachers College before serving honorably in the United States Army. After his military service, he began his professional career in the insurance industry with Mutual of Omaha, where he broke barriers and made history as the first Black Vice President at the company.
Throughout his life, Alcurtis remained deeply committed to community and service. He worked with the Urban League and Big Brothers Big Sisters, mentoring and inspiring others to achieve their goals. As a proud member of theRoyal Vagabonds, he built lifelong friendships rooted in fellowship and giving back. A Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in Omaha, he exemplified faith in action and dedicated much of his time to prison ministry, always leading with compassion and grace.
After receiving the gift of a heart transplant 16 years ago, Alcurtis made it his mission to live each day with gratitude and purpose.
He lived an extraordinary life—he loved playing golf and attending sporting events with family and friends. No matter the city, he always knew the best restaurant to try and took great joy in sharing those discoveries.
In his final act of generosity, Alcurtis chose to donate his body to science, continuing to help others even after his passing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Robinson; his children, Alan Robinson and Lindsay Robinson; his cherished grandchildren, Alexis Robinson, Lauryn Robinson, Chloe Robinson, Willow Robinson, Ava Robinson, and Payton Robinson; his great-grandson, Tashari Curtis Robinson Moore; his aunt, Bessie Skinner Joiner; his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss him deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. at New Sunny Mount Baptist Church,
