Alfred B. (Al) Calsetta, 91, passed away on November 26, 2025. Al was born on July 9, 1934 in Mineola, Long Island, New York, to parents Alfred E. and Maria Calsetta. He received degrees of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Industrial Management from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He also studied Nuclear Engineering at Long Island University and the University of Michigan. Al was a graduate of the General Electric 30-week Power Systems Engineering Course. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of New York, Tennessee and Georgia. Al was a lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine Anne, his parents, step daughter Stacy Carlisle and his sister, Marie Kelly. Al was employed by the Long Island Lighting Company for 23 years where he rose to Manager of System Planning and was responsible for the long-range planning of generating plants, high voltage transmission lines and substations. He then moved to the Tennessee Valley Authority and became Chief of Rates responsible for setting electric rates throughout the Authority’s seven-state service area. He then joined the Ebasco Business Consulting Company as Vice President overseeing consulting services to electric utilities. He rose to Vice President and General Manager. Following that he joined the Applied Energy Group as Vice President performing similar services. Finally, Al Joined the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia as Manager of System Planning where he retired in 2001. Following retirement Al took up acting and became a member of the Pumphouse Players in Cartersville, GA. He appeared in nine plays since 2005, the highlight of which was winning best male actor in 2009 for his portrayal of Morrie in Tuesdays With Morrie. Al also appeared in several plays at the Grand Theatre and was a performer in the annual Senior Shenanigans show for 14 years. He was a member of the Cartersville Retired Men’s Group. As a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Al served as President of the Pastoral Council, a position he also previously held in two church parishes in New York. Al was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Calsetta and step daughter Stacy Carlyle. He is succeeded by his children Elena (Michael) Haskew and Peter (Sandra) Calsetta, step-children J. Scott Carlyle, Steven Carlyle, Sonya Carlyle, and W. Shannon Carlyle, and seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Memorial service will be at St. Francis of Assisi in Cartersville, Georgia at 1:00 PM on January 10. A Funeral Mass will be held on January 10, 2026, from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM at St Frances of Assisi Catholic Church 850 Douthit Ferry Road
