Alfred Rex Jr., a proud veteran and dedicated advocate for those who served, passed away on November 27, 2025, in Buffalo, New York. He was 55 years old.
Born on February 22, 1970, in Buffalo, Alfred spent his life rooted in the community he loved. After graduating from Medaille College in 2001 with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, he devoted his professional life to supporting fellow veterans through his work with the Veterans Benefits Association. His passion for helping others was evident in the countless lives he touched—especially among his veteran friends and family members ensuring they received the disability and compensation benefits they had earned.
Alfred's commitment to service began long before his civilian career. In April 1992, he entered the United States Air Force and served honorably until October 1996, achieving the rank of Senior Airman. Following basic training, he was stationed at Newark Air Force Base as a Security Police Officer before transferring to Yokota Air Base in Japan, where he became a certified customs and immigration officer. Upon returning home to Buffalo, Alfred continued his service with two additional years in the Air Force Reserves at Niagara Falls Air Force Base.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Alfred embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and found joy in traveling, attending concerts, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends. His presence brought energy to every gathering and comfort to those around him.
Alfred is survived by his beloved wife, Reiko (Wrazen) Rex; sisters Cheryl (Gary) Wilson and Jenefer Rex; father-in-law John Wrazen; brother-in-law Jarvis Wrazen and sister in law Mitsuko (Rick) Lapinski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Rex Sr. and Donna (Christen) Rex; and mother-in-law Joahnn Wrazen.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and gratitude from all who benefited from his unwavering dedication to veterans. A memorial service will be held on December 13, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Kazmierczak Funeral 3640 Clinton St. Full Military Honor Guard service.
