Alice Betsy Luff Busler, known as Betsy by her family and friends, aged 86, passed away on November 29, 2025, in Tampa, Florida surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on June 29, 1939, she dedicated much of her life to education, family, friends, and her faith.
Betsy graduated from Hillsborough High School and furthered her education receiving a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tampa and a Master of Science from Nova Southeastern University. She began her career teaching in the Hillsborough County School System, where she left a lasting impact on her students. She produced her own educational publication called Frog Publications. Betsy later transitioned into real estate, working as a Real Estate Broker. She also worked for the University of South Florida, reviewing student teachers before their graduation.
A long-time member of St. Clement's Episcopal Church of which her father was a founding member, Betsy was deeply involved in her faith community. Her commitment to her church was evident in her active participation and leadership in various church activities.
Betsy's personal life was filled with joy from spending time with her family and friends. She cherished playing Uno with her grandchildren and poker and bridge with her friends, activities that showcased her feisty competitive nature, love for fun and companionship. She loved all animals and was exceptionally devoted to her pets. She also had a passion for travel, the beach, theater and the arts and enjoyed sharing those experiences with those she cared about most.
Betsy is survived by her son, William Ray Busler, Jr. and his wife Kara; grandchildren William Ray Busler, III and wife Rebecca, Tara Lynn Busler, Cydney Nicole Busler, and Zachary Richard Busler; great-grandchildren Alice Jane, Evelynn Riley, and William Ray Busler, IV; cherished cousins and their children; lifelong friends too many to count; and her adored dog Mattie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Lillian (Bunny) Luff, and her beloved son, Robert Ray Busler.
A service to celebrate Betsy's life will be held at St. Clement's Episcopal Church on Friday, December 5th, 2025, at 2:00 PM, located at 706 W. 113th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33612. Betsy's life was a testament to her dedication to her family, her faith, her friends and her pets, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Moffitt Cancer Center.
