Alice "Bobbie" Thomson passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2025 in Mission Viejo, CA. She was 95 years old.
Bobbie was born on November 10, 1930 in New York City to Alice and Oscar Doerr. She was an only child and the joy of their lives. Bobbie grew up in Brooklyn with a very competitive spirit. She was an AAU swimmer, while playing competitive tennis and golf. In high school, she moved to Westfield where she graduated from Westfield High School. After graduation, she and her parents set off on the USS AMERICA for London to attend the 1948 Olympics along with the US Olympic team aboard ship. In London, Bobbie demonstrated the first Olympic synchronized swimming event and her father was an official swim timer. She went on to attend Brenau College in Georgia and then transferred to Rollins College in Winter Park, FL where she graduated in 1952 with many notable swimming awards.
Returning to Westfield, Bobbie met Bob Thomson on a blind date and found love for a lifetime. They married in 1953 and built a family of five.
The family lived in Fair Haven, NJ before relocating to California. Another dream come true, Bobbie loved the beach, all of her favorite sports, great weather and her new home in Mission Viejo.
While devoted to her family's needs, she was an avid sportswoman. She was either playing tennis, golf or swimming well into her 80's. Along the way, she lovingly passed on all she knew about life and competition in sports to her children and grandchildren.
She volunteered her time for over 30 years at the Mission Viejo Hospital.
Bobbie loved her sports and traveling the world, but most of all loved spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her children Cliff Thomson (Jody) of Thousand Oaks, Lori Faunce (Brian) of Lakewood Ranch, FL, her grandchildren Katie Rocca, Austin Faunce, Lindsay Bisland and Sean Thomson and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob (1986) and her daughter Lynn Robinson (2023).
Bobbie's ashes and beautiful spirit will return to the Pacific Ocean she loved so much in a private family ceremony.
