Alicia Layne Johnson (née Perkins), 57, passed away on December 12, 2025, in Chugiak, Alaska. Born on February 14, 1967, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Alicia brought warmth and vitality into the world from the very beginning.
Alicia moved to Alaska where she pursued her passion for education, graduating from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1992 with her teaching certificate. Her dedication to learning and sharing knowledge left a lasting impression on those she taught and worked alongside throughout her career.
Known for her larger-than-life personality, Alicia had a magnetic presence that drew people in and made them feel seen and heard. Whether she was out on the trails hiking or cross-country skiing, casting a line while fishing, or enjoying the serenity of camping under the Alaskan sky, Alicia embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. The outdoors were not just a pastime for her—they were a source of peace and connection.
She is survived by her loving husband Derrick Johnson; her cherished daughter Dominique Johnson; her devoted mother Carol Perkins; and her sister Christina OMarrah. Alicia was preceded in death by her brother Brian Woods.
A celebration of Alicia's life was held in Chugiak, Alaska.
