Alison Cleonie Barclay, aged 93, passed away on December 28, 2025, in Miami, FL. Born on October 17, 1932, Alison dedicated over five decades to education, profoundly impacting the lives of countless students from Jamaica to New York City. Throughout her illustrious teaching career, she received numerous awards and accolades, always valuing the personal connections she fostered with her students above all.
Alison attended Clifton Primary and High Schools, followed by Bethlehem Teachers College and Long Island University, where she earned advanced degrees, as well as her skills and passion for teaching.
She was a devout member of Bedford Central Presbyterian Church in New York City and Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Miami, Florida. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, as evidenced by her love for studying the Bible and her active participation in her church communities.
In addition to her religious and educational pursuits, Alison enjoyed traveling, experiencing cultures, and creating memories that enhanced her life.
Alison leaves behind a loving family, including her children Dean, Adolph, Wayne, and Donna; daughters-in-laws Suzette and Michele; grandchildren Craig, Deanna, and Jarod; and great-grandchildren Roman, Ellie, and Darin. She is also survived by her sister, Joy Ansine. Alison was preceded in death by her parents, Egland and Gwendolyn, and her siblings Rose, Eloise, Gwendolyn, Basil, and Lunsford.
Her legacy as an educator and a devout Christian who cherished her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
