Allan Steven Sexter, 88, of Delray Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026. His warmth, humor, intelligence and unwavering commitment to his family and friends will be missed by all who knew him.

Allan was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1938 to Frieda and Maurice Sexter. He grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn with his sister Iris (Popkin). He developed a strong work ethic early in life, working various jobs as a teenager to help support his family. He attended Midwood High School, where he met Martha Helman, who would become his wife and life-long companion for 65 years.

He was a high school teacher in Brooklyn while attending Brooklyn College. After he graduated, he went on to earn his JD with honors from Brooklyn Law School. He then served as a clerk in the US District court in New York before going into private practice. He was a partner at the New York law firm Kimmelman, Sexter and Sobel, then a senior partner in the later iteration of the firm, Sexter and Warmflash. He finished his career working as Senior council for Millennium Partners, a New York-based hedge fund.

He was the proud father of Michelle (Avery), Melissa (Lewis,) Kenneth and David Sexter and beloved grandfather of Jackson, Sam and Shelby Avery, Chloe and Phoebe Lewis, Riley and Dylan Sexter, Henry, Perry and Abigail Sexter. He was the loving father-in-law to James Avery, Dr. Rebecca Breslow and Melissa Sexter (Widolok).

Allan took his hobbies very seriously. He loved to ski, play tennis and golf. Splitting his time between Long Island and Delray Beach, FL, he was a regular at the golf courses at the Inwood Country Club and Glenaegles Country Club in Delray.

He was an avid reader, with an unquenched appetite for books about history, suspense, thrillers and sports.

He served as President of the Inwood Country Club. He was also a generous donor and active in many civic and charitable organizations, including the United Jewish Appeal, Michelle Avery Fund for Breast Cancer, Hebrew Home for the Aged and Sunshine Day Camp on Long Island.
