Allen Eugene Alexander was born August 18, 1949 in Greenville, SC and died surrounded by family on January 3, 2026. The youngest son of the late Carl and Elizabeth Alexander of Burlington, NC. Allen lived many lives - a graduate of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX, a US Marine, a NC State Trooper, corporate executive for BellSouth Yellow Pages, and entrepreneur, our father did it all. He loved to scuba dive, keep bees, and work in his backyard. He was tenacious, driven, and had a great laugh. He was most-often seen wearing a Ron Jon shirt with a smile on his face.

He is survived by his children: Katie Cowart, Andrew Alexander, and Leah Swaim; his grandchildren, who were the loves of his life: Griggsby (IV) and Magnolia Cowart, Isla, Elin, and Avery Swaim; his brother Ruhl Alexander; and his best friend and companion, his golden doodle, Garrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jimmy, whom we are confident are so happy to be reunited with him.

He met his end tragically when a surgical procedure went wrong in Tampa, FL. He was not done. He had many adventures left in him. So, in his memory, we ask that you become familiar with Florida’s “Free Kill” law, and educate yourself on the risks associated with receiving medical care in Florida. If you find that your grief and dismay over the loss of our father has you wanting to advocate for change on his behalf, we encourage you to reach out to Florida legislatures to include Governor Ron DeSantis, of whom our father was a staunch supporter but, who with his constant vetoing of repeal efforts of the Free Kill law, ultimately is perpetuating the injustice and violation of our father's life and legacy.

We also ask that in his memory you enjoy an ice cold beer in your backyard, and have an afternoon nap with your dog. And if you have a Ron Jon shirt, wear it.

It is strange and impossible to attempt sum up a life of a person in text box using words as the human spirit, our dad's spirit, is so much more. But we can tell you that he lived. He loved. He won and he lost. He told the truth and was passionate about the future of our country for his grandchildren's sake.

If you knew him, you loved him. Maybe not at first, but he had a way of making you love him. He was just that magnetic. He made you feel like you were the most important person in the world and there is no one he'd rather be spending time with. How lucky were we to have shared even a brief time with someone like him?

We place our hope in the promise of eternal life and know that we will be reunited with him again some day. "In the sweet by and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore."
