Allen Wayne Cassidy, known affectionately as Al, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 77. Born on March 15, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, Al spent his formative years attending Kent Area Schools and graduated from Tahoma High School in 1965.
Shortly after high school, Al dedicated four years to serving in the US Air Force, where he was stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas and northern Japan from 1965 to 1969. His commitment to his country was a significant part of his life and shaped many of his values and friendships.
Following his military service, Al embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Kenworth Truck Company, where he worked from 1969 until his retirement in 2001. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated and hardworking individual who brought not only skill but also a sense of humor to the workplace.
Al was a man of many interests, including puzzles, old cars, baseball, softball, and bowling. He had a particular fondness for old cowboy movies, which he enjoyed watching during his leisure time. Al also had an appreciation for simple pleasures, like a slice of apple pie, a good pizza, and a fine glass of wine.
Al's family was central to his life. He is survived by his wife, Joy Cassidy; his daughter, Shana Cassidy Leeman (Tim); his son, Sean Cassidy (Mindy); his step-son, Keith Fongemie (Trang); his step-daughter, Angie Johansen (Jens); and his grandchildren, Dylan Leeman, Payten Leeman, Chloe Cassidy, Quinn Cassidy, Ellie Fongemie, DJ Fongemie, and Eva Johansen. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Norma Cassidy, and his first wife, Marty Cassidy.
A service to celebrate Al's life will be held on March 15, 2026, at the Cimarron Crossing Clubhouse at 437 E. Germann in San Tan Valley, Arizona. This gathering will honor his memory and the impact he had on all those around him. Al's thoughtful nature and his love for his family and friends will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
