Allyson Melanie Schweitzer passed away in New Port Richey, Florida, on December 2, 2025, after a long illness and a steady decline in health.
Born in Manhattan, New York, and raised in the Lutheran faith, Allyson later moved with her parents to Garrison, New York, in the Hudson River Valley. She graduated from Haldane Central High School in Cold Spring, NY, 1969.
After high school, Allyson settled in Broad Brook, Connecticut, with her husband Bill, where she worked in payroll and as an administrative assistant. In 1995, Allyson and Bill relocated to Florida, where she continued her career in the office of a law firm in New Port Richey.
Allyson was predeceased by her beloved husband, William F. Schweitzer Sr. (originally of East Windsor, CT); her grandparents Marie K. Meissner (of Monson, PA) and Harvey W. Meissner (of Evansville, MN); and her parents Millicentrae Yates (of Bronx, NY) and Fred J. Yates (of Bolckow, MO).
She is survived by her stepson William F. Schweitzer Jr., his wife Lisa, and her granddaughter Natasha, all of Windsor Locks, CT. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Irene Boudreau of Enfield, CT. In addition, Allyson is survived by her biological son Pete Yates, his wife Sherri, and her grandson Noah, all of Tampa Bay, FL.
We take comfort in knowing now Allyson is forever resting in peace and in the realization that Allyson is now reunited with those who went before her and embraced by eternal grace. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
